Welsh Sanitation

A Reliable & Responsible Waste Management Company

Three Generations Dedicated to Service & Community

In 1955, a young Emil Panichi began Royal Carting, a Hudson Valley-based waste company, with only a single truck. In 1991, Royal Carting Service Company acquired Welsh Sanitation Service with a vision of expanding to the entirety of the Hudson Valley.

Since the very beginning, Emil has devoted countless time and energy to Royal Carting, and Welsh Sanitation, as it continues to grow in the Hudson Valley. Through the years, the business has expanded from its origins as a residential garbage collection, to now including drop-off service and commercial waste removal. They are a pioneer in the recycling industry, with over half of their fleet being zero emission.

Welsh Sanitation has always been and always will be a “family” of Hudson Valley residents, operating a team of specialized vehicles in addition to its own single stream recycling center and two NYS DEC permitted transfer stations.

Daughters, Elisa and Evelyn, have been a part of the business since they were teenagers working on the weekends and holiday breaks. Now they continue to carry on the core values of the Panichi family business and service to the community.

Community Service

The Panichi family has as much passion for giving as they do for business. Because of this, Welsh Sanitation and its sister company, Royal Carting, have made giving back to their community a priority. Their focus lies in helping children overcome challenges and successfully complete the initiatives necessary to reach their highest potential.

Both Welsh Sanitation and Royal Carting support various hospitals and colleges, as well as local non-profit organizations including the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, DARE, Abilities First, Downs Syndrome of the Hudson Valley, Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie, and DC ARC.

Most recently, Emil and the Royal/Welsh family helped build the Panichi Pool for Maplebrook School of Amenia, NY — a specialized boarding school that serves young adults and adolescents who learn in different ways.

Panichi Center for Communication and Learning

The Panichi Family is proud to have been a leader in the creation of the Panichi Center for Communication and Learning. Located in Beacon, NY, and dedicated in 2007, The Panichi Center’s purpose is to serve the increasing number of preschool-age children with various medical conditions that require interventions and therapies to address their developmental disabilities and delays.

The Panichi Center provides programs for children 18 months to 5 years old with disabilities including pervasive development disorders, ADD, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, speech delays, and autism. The Center also features a satellite office for the treatment of communication disorders such as speech, language, hearing, and problems with swallowing.

The program is accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). For more information call Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital at (845) 431-8803.
